to create 29.402 of the statutes;

2to: allowing a member of a group fishing party to catch a fish using the bag limit
3of another member.

This bill authorizes a member of a group of persons who are fishing in the same
boat for the same species of fish to catch a fish of that species for another member
of the group if the person for whom the fish is caught has not reached the applicable
bag limit for the species. Each member of the group must hold a fishing license and
any stamps necessary to catch that species of fish.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

Tagging requirement. Any Except as provided in s. 29.402 (3)
6any person having taken a lake sturgeon by means of a hook and line shall
7immediately attach a current, validated sturgeon hook and line tag issued to that
1person to the tail of the sturgeon. No person may possess, control, store, or transport
2a lake sturgeon carcass unless it is tagged as required under this paragraph.

2. 29.402 of the statutes is created to read:

429.402 Group fishing parties. (1) In this section, "group fishing party"
5means 2 or more persons actively fishing in a group for a species of fish, each of whom
6holds the necessary fishing approvals to fish for that species of fish.

7(2) Any member of a group fishing party may catch fish of another member of
8the group fishing party if both of the following conditions exist:

(a) At the time and place of the catch, the person who catches the fish is in the
10same boat as the person for whom the fish is caught.

(b) The person for whom the fish is caught has not reached the applicable bag
12limit authorized under his or her fishing approvals for that species of fish.

13(3) For fish that are required to be tagged, a person who catches a fish for
14another as authorized under sub. (2) shall ensure that a member of the group fishing
15party without delay attaches a current tag to the fish in the manner specified under
16s. 29.2285 (3) (c) or by administrative rule.
